The most shocking birds I´ve ever seen, are not from Hitchcock´s but the ones displayed on Gigi´s film, on the final scenes, where Gigi wears a dress with four little velvet birds, designed by Cecil Beaton.
I´m not sure if the idea of this artist who took lots of celebrities photographs and who designed impressive costumes, such us the ones in My Fair Lady, was symbolizing love, distracting our attention or ruininig a dress that needed no garments at all.
The thing is that now that the Hitchcock´s biopic is almost here, I just can see birds everywhere…..

Después de ver Gigi, de Vicente Minnelli, te das cuenta de que los pájaros más cinematográficos de la historia no son los de Hitchcock, sino los que adornan el vestido que lleva la protagonista Lesli Caron en las escenas finales de la película, diseñado por Cecil Beaton. Son cuatro golondrinas de terciopelo que parecen sujetar el vestido, como si la propia Gigi también fuera a echar a volar…
No sé si la intención de este artista tan conocido por sus fotos a celebridades y por realizar memorables vestuarios como el de My Fair Lady, era simbolizar el amor a través de unas estáticas golondrinas; distraer la atención; ironizar sobre una escena costumbrista, reflejando el comportamiento sentimental y social de las jóvenes de aquella época; o simplemente recargar un vestido que no necesitaba ningún tipo de adorno.
El caso es que ahora que se estrena el biopic de Hitchcock, veo pájaros por todas partes……
